Impact Windows in Miramar, FL

Miramar is a large city, and impact windows are often just one piece of a whole-house package here. With 134,721 residents at the 2020 census, Miramar is Broward's fourth-largest city and covers about 28.85 square miles of land. Many homes have a two-car garage, a front entry with sidelites and a rear slider, all openings that need protection along with the windows.

Thinking in openings, not windows

A house is only as protected as its weakest opening. A garage door that fails lets wind into the house and pushes up on the roof. A front door with unrated glass sidelites can break open. We walk the house and list every opening, then price them in groups, so you can see what full protection costs and plan a sequence that makes sense.

Garage doors

Impact garage doors use reinforced sections, struts and heavier tracks tested together. Broward is in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, so the door must carry an approval for HVHZ use. We size the opener to the heavier door and offer battery backup for power outages.

Entry doors and sidelites

Fiberglass, steel and aluminum impact doors with multi-point locks and laminated glass are available in many styles. Sidelites and transoms are approved as part of the unit, so they must be replaced with it.

A city named for Havana

Miramar incorporated on May 26, 1955, and takes its name from the Miramar area of Havana. It averaged 3.07 people per household in 2020, and its elevation is about 7 feet. The FBI's Miami field office is based here.

Older and newer houses

A city this large has every kind of house, from older block homes that need full window replacement and repairs to bucks and stucco, to newer homes that came with shutters or panels and owners who are tired of putting them up. We tailor the package to which kind of house you have.

HOA communities

Many Miramar subdivisions have associations that review exterior changes, including frame color, glass tint and garage door style. Get approval first; we provide product sheets and color samples for the review.

Sliders and lake lots

Lake lots are common in Miramar's planned communities. The rear slider faces open water and usually needs higher design pressure. We calculate it for the opening and choose an approved door to match.

Window styles

Single-hung impact windows are the most common choice, but horizontal rollers suit wide openings and casements give full ventilation. Fixed picture windows can usually be larger at higher pressures than operable units.

What it takes on site

A typical house takes a few days of installation after the permit is issued. We work a few openings at a time, close each one before leaving and schedule the city inspection when the work is done.

Miramar has its own building department. Check its current window and door requirements; we prepare product approvals, drawings and pressures.
